Guide on safe choice

Guide on safe choice
The safe range is wide, but also confused. The official resellers are perfectly able to inform cutomers about the different safes models, locks, certifications, resistance grades and insurance amounts. The end user can recognize the high quality certification from the blue certification label marked ECB·S. With an increasing number of thefts, a safe to store valuables is needed.
The offer is wide, but also complex. What is needed, who can advice and what must the customer watch out? We answer to the most frequently asked questions for a correct choice of the safe for your home or office.
How much must a safe be safe?
Why is certification so important?
What kind of safe do I need?
It depends on individual needs: what are you going to protect and what are the future necessities in terms of security? Besides cash, watches and jewellery, also electronic devices are particularly sought after by thieves. Hence, safes should be big enough to store notebooks, iPads, mobile phones, smartphones, digital cameras and other high-tech products.
What kind of protection against theft and fire is needed?
Both are important. Burglary proof safes are certified according to the European Norms EN 1143-1 and 14450. Fireproof products are certified according to the European Norms EN 1047-1 and 15659. Fire protection is interesting especially for data devices that are heat-sensitive: CD, DVD, Blu-ray, USB pen drive and hard disk. A safe does not protect automatically against fire and fire protection does not entail ipso facto burglary protection. When both characteristics are required, end users must watch out for both certifications. Bordogna offers products which combine burglary and fire protection.
